Where in the wolrd am I??

Hey everyone!  Sorry it's been sooo long since I've last updated...but at last I have captured time.  Well, at least for the moment...enough to let me update my way outdated xanga site.  Anyways...*sigh*

Right now I am in the awesome country of Bulgaria.  Yep, that's right...Bulgaria.  I'm on a mission trip with all my classmates from OHA, more widely known as senior mission trip (I still find it hard to believe that I am a senior...oh well).  We are conducting four simultaneous evangelistic series in surrounding villages and small cities near a huge tourist trap called Varna.  But thankfully, this time of year scares the majority of tourists away because of it's cold weather.  There is said to be four seasons here in Varna: winter, June, July and August.  Surprisingly, even though we are on the fringes of winter, it is pretty warm here...sometimes it rains, but there is no snow.  It's in the 50-70s...at night it gets pretty cold though.

So far we are in our 5th night of evangelistic series.  God is really blessing and I have nothing to complain about.  Even though the attendance is smallerish (15-30), that was kind of what was expected.  But that doesn't matter...if we can reach but one soul for Christ, who knows?..maybe that one will reach thousands.  Only God knows.

Well, I need to go back to my apartment...I'm getting tired of smelling this smoke filled internet cafe.  Chow chow (Bulgarian way of saying goodbye)!!

Happy Tofurkey Day!!

Thanksgiving: a time to be thankful...and just that. Are you thankful for everything God has done for you? Whenever Thanksgiving season rolls around, I always try to recall the many blessings that have come to be. A research has been made saying that a good way to get happy and stay happy is to write down things that you are thankful every day...and might I say, especially on Thanksgiving Day. Here's a list of the things that I am thankful for and I encourage all of you to recount all the things to be thankful, especially today.

1. Loving, caring, forgiving, merciful, patient God
2. Godly, loving family
3. Powerful, lifechanging Word of God (Bible)
4. The ability to go to God in prayer and pour out everything to Him and know that He hears me
5. Nature-God's 2nd book-the majesty that you feel when you are on top of a huge mountain with a breathtaking view and the simple pleasure you get from observing a butterfly dancing around you
6. The gift of music and the joy that it brings to our lives
7. Encouraging, awesome friends who lift you up when you need it
8. Have a roof over my head and food on the table
9. Freedom to worship God in this country as I choose to without persecution
10. The gift to read and write-so many people can't write or read

And that's just to name a few...I am so blessed!!

Anyways...I'm home on break after a very busy, but awesomely fun few weeks at school. Break started on Tuesday, and after a long, 9 hour drive, we finally made it home only to find me in my bed almost immediately. I was so tired! Wednesday I went out to eat with my two brothers...did some shopping...then went and picked up our car with my dad that was getting some engine work to it. To top it all off, Al and Addison Huong arrived and spent the night and Thanksgiving with us...it is really nice to have them here with us. And today...of course all the meal prep work...as a matter of fact, I really wasn't extremely hungry for the huge spread of food for dinner because I...well...I kind of stuffed myself for breakfast. Yeah, black sticky rice doesn't digest very quickly, but man, was it ever delicious!

It has been good to have all of my family together again...seems as if it has been quite some time since we all have abode under the same roof (since August). But anyways...my eyelids are getting heavy and it's getting late...so I guess that means I should go to bed. No problem there, my bed and I have a good kinship together. Good night to all and I hope that you all had an awesome Thanksgiving! God bless to all and please remember to keep the mission trip people who are in India right now from OHA in your prayers(if any of you are reading this note and are over there, know that I am praying for you all!). -dan

Well, I guess it has been quite some time since I have last updated. Sorry. I guess I've either made the excuse that I am too busy or too lazy to update, but since today is my very last day here at home, I thought I might need to give an update on my life. Since I've updated last (mid-May. Yikes!), tons of stuff have happened...and I guess the biggest and best of all was graduation. My cuz Jason graduated, as well as 5 other of my friends. Congrats Seniors...umm, well, I guess they are freshmen now...but yeah, they get the point. Then I worked the first half of the summer at OHA doing all sorts of things...mostly agriculture related work such as planting and harvesting vegitables, hoeing weeds, digging ditches (3 weeks worth total...). Yah, lots of persperation. But it was awesome! I throughly enjoyed every minute of it. It was quite different then the school year being that (a.) you didn't have any school work to do (yaaay!), (b.) an activity every evening, (c.) lots more free time, and (d.) a much smaller group then during the school year. I could tell countless experiences during the summer that happened, but I'll spare you from getting your eyes tired from reading off the computer screen. Anyways, first half ended.

Then we mom, Paul, Pieter, Christina and I drove back towards Chattanooga. Mom and I stopped with Paul in Centerville to celebrate my great uncle's 80th birthday. What an inspiring life he lived! He was a missionary doctor for pretty much all of his life...it was a life of constant service. Congrats Uncle Bill on your milestone reached!

Then I came home...yes, home. This was the first summer in a loooong time that I have spent a little less then half of my summer at home (5 weeks total). Almost every summer before this I have been somewhere but home. So I figured it was about time to just stay home for once to work and spend time with family. I've worked quite a bit, but to sum it all up I have spent the majority of my summer sleeping trying to make up for the lost sleep that I brought upon my self during the school year. Quite relaxing, I'd say. A backpacking trip was also sandwiched in the middle of the second half. These are the families who went: The Dysinger family (minus Evie), Phillip and Ruthie Mills, the Reynolds family (minus their dad), Michael Taylor and my family (minus Michael, my bro). I would upload some photo's but I guess I am just to lazy to. Then a week or so later, we headed to ASI and I worked in the primary division. That was lots of fun. To sum it all up, it has been a wonderful summer!

But now...now it is almost time for school to start...I think every student's dream is that summer would last all year long. But not so. So what am I saying?? Maybe I am just taking for granted all the benifits I get from learning and don't appreciate it enough. I don't know. Maybe I need to keep in mind all those who would give anything to get an education like I am getting. I don't know. Maybe I am just sad that today is my last day home for six weeks till next break. Oh well, time can't go backwards. Maybe I just need to face reality with God's help and let Him work through and in me to be a missionary wherever I am, to brighten the corner wherever I am. Whatever the case, I can praise God for what He has done in my life and ask that He will strengthen me for this coming school year.

Well, I need to get back to packing for my trip tommorow back down to OHA. God bless and remember to always keep Christ # 1 in your life. Take care and have a great school year to all the students!~ KIT, ok? I do respond to emails much quicker then any other communication device. But then again, I will be at school, and that means I will have limited time to check my email and get online. Anyways, enough blabbering. God bless! -Reynolds

Update...finally!!

Just have a few minuets of free time...doesn't happen very often around here.  Sorry for not updating more...I've been so busy.  I can't believe how fast this school year has flown!  It's almost grad!  It's less than a month away...but so much to do in such a short time.  At the beginning of the school year I though grad would never come, but as I look back, this school year seemed to have gone by like a blink.  This weekend I am headed to Florida via home (where we are spending a night) for a bell choir trip.  It's going to be a long ride, and we are having five concerts this weekend.  I can already feel the drain in me...lol.  It will be great though!  I am really looking forward to it.  Just pray that none of the bell choir members get sick in the mean time...some are already sick, but I hope they will be well by the time we leave Thursday noon.  Well, can't type for long...got to go (what's new *sigh*).  Take care and God bless!  Danbo

Hey everyone...for those of you who don't keep in touch with me in any other way than xanga, I thought it might be nice not to leave you all in the darkness. Brief summery in a few words: Got back from Thailand Christmas eve...really tired...drove to Virginia the day after Christmas...drove to Baltimore for GYC the day after the day after Christmas...took all my finals in Collegedale (no, not for Southern, for OHA)(felt like I flunked them all...lol, but I actually didn't (I felt like I had because I wasn't in any of the class lectures during the whole time in the Philippines and Thailand)).(too many parenthesis?? Sorry)...went back to school second semester...had a break between Christmas break and the current moment...and guess what? Yeah, you may be asking, "How is Daniel updating at school...he like never updates at school because he is so busy." (Sorry, I guess I just put words in your mouth) Currently, and this very second, millisecond, decisecond, or whatever you want to call it, I am enjoying high speed wireless internet at a Brazilian home in Dallas, Texas. Now, why am I in Dallas Texas? Well, I guess you could say I am playing hookie for the weekend...you know what, I just thought of something: how could I be playing hookie on the weekend? They don't have school on the weekends. Whatever...anyways, yeah...I am on a bell choir trip here with my wonderful bell choir teammates. It's Saturday night, a couple minuets past midnight (yah, I know it's late, but when you've got wireless internet, you try to take advantage of it, right?), and I am sitting here on the floor reminiscing on today's events. We left school yesterday at 1pm and arrived at the Dallas Brazilian SDA church around 7-ish. Then, two by two we went into the ark. Umm, I hope you know that I am just joking. But we did go two by two to the members homes. The Brazilians are so nice! It really reminds me of being back in El Salvador, except for the fact that they don't speak Spanish, but Portuguese. But there are some similarities. Anyways...Josh and I are staying here in northeast Dallas and really enjoying the friendliness, genuineness hospitality and kindness that this wonderful family have so freely blessed us with. It is nice to be blessed once again by people who are so caring. I don't know, sometimes here in America, we don't care enough (I know sometimes I fall into the same trap). But when you stay with people like the people we are staying with or if you have ever been overseas, you can relate with me in what I am saying. After the performance this morning...or, err, yesterday (lol, it's past midnight)...the young people of the church were just like the young people from overseas. They wanted pictures with us, expressed an interest in us, etc. Anyways...back to performance wise, we (speaking for the bell choir) really enjoyed not only taking part in the service there at the Brazilian SDA church, but also getting a taste of the Portuguese language. It went really well. Then this after noon (well, yesterday afternoon), we went and performed at the Dallas First church, where they were holding the southwestern ASI chapter meeting. It too was a great blessing. It reminded me somewhat of ASI last year in Dallas (same city, same general function, but alot smaller). You know, one thing I have come to realize is that no matter how hard we try to do our best in our performances, we must recognize and realize that we are not and should not be trying to direct the attention or glory to ourselves, but to God and His holiness, greatness, omnipotence, power, etc. We are nothing in and of ourselves. Praise God for who He is!! Wow!

Well, I'd best be getting to bed. If I have made any mistakes in my hurriedly typed spelling, please forgive me. I really need to get to bed and that is one of the reason for my hurriedness. And, by all means, don't get confused with all those parenthesis!
Good night everyone and may God richly bless you!
Until next time I post (and who knows when that will be),
Your's truely,
Daniel
